Paper Labyrinths 1-3

A podcast I cohost with Brendan McLeod is on a roll!

Our 'episode 1' features Gareth Damian Martin hot off the release of Citizen Sleeper 2, and naturally we talk a lot about differences in what a roleplaying game is when considered from digital and analog perspectives. Where it gets really interesting is trying to unpack what the genre expectations of digital RPGs actually? It's not as straightforward an answer as you'd hope!

Episode 2 features Grace Benfell, a writer and critic of games. RPGs are still on the brain, but Grace is writing a book about faith and religion so we end up going down that rabbit hole. Turns out a lot of RPGs are about killing god/God? We also swerve into horror a bit.

Episode 3 features Megan Carnes, a composer and game designer, who also composed the theme song for the show itself. Megan is working on a game-like tool that provides a tarot reading and procedural music based off that reading. Every single tarot card has its own piece of music, and each reading combines those pieces into a whole. We get into this, and also the nature of how it's more of a tool than a game and what even the difference is there.

All these episodes are available here or wherever you access podcasts.
